Bland agents live on phone numbers, so Bluejay tests them the same way a real customer reaches them: by calling the number. No API keys, webhooks, or code needed to run a simulation.

How it connects

Bluejay dials your Bland phone number and the Digital Human holds the conversation with your agent. Transcripts, recordings, and metric scores come from Bluejay’s side of the call.

Prerequisites

  • A Bland phone number with your agent set as the inbound agent
  • A Bluejay account

Quick start

1. Get your Bland number

In Bland, go to Phone Numbers and confirm your agent is attached to the number for inbound calls.

2. Create an agent in Bluejay

  1. Click Create Agent.
  2. Set the agent type to Inbound and the mode to Voice.
  3. Choose the Phone connection type and paste your Bland number in full international format (e.g. +15551234567).
  4. Click Create.

3. Create a simulation

Go to the Simulations page, click Create in the top right, select the Bland agent you just created, and add or auto-generate Digital Human personas.

4. Run it

In the Simulations tab, click Run on the simulation, then click Run calls (the button shows the call count, e.g. “Run 3 calls”). Bluejay dials your Bland number, and when the call finishes the result opens with the transcript, recording, and metric scores.
To evaluate your production Bland calls too, set up the Bland Observability webhook.

Testing outbound Bland agents

If your Bland agent places calls instead of answering them, flip the direction: Bluejay’s Digital Humans answer on phone numbers, and your Bland agent dials them.
  1. Create the Bluejay agent with type Outbound (still Voice and Phone).
  2. Give each Digital Human in your simulation a phone number. These are the numbers your agent will dial.
  3. In Bluejay, add a webhook subscribed to the outbound_simulation_started event (see Webhooks). When you run the simulation, it delivers the list of numbers to dial.
  4. When the webhook fires, have your system place the calls through Bland’s send-call API, one per Digital Human, to each phone_number in the payload. You can also dial them manually for a quick test.
  5. The Digital Humans answer, the conversations run, and results land like any other simulation.

Things to note

  • Tool calls aren’t captured automatically. Bland doesn’t have a native sync into Bluejay, so simulation results cover the conversation itself: transcript, audio, and metrics.
